В аромате преобладают солод, свежесть и кондитерская сладость — карамель, ирис, помадка, ваниль и кокос, с яблоком, жёлтыми фруктами и лёгким апельсином от очень умеренной хересной выдержки; отмечают сливочность и выпечку (бисквит, вафли со взбитыми сливками). Во вкусе много солода и карамели, тарт-татен, тоффи, затем пряности — перец, имбирь, горчица; тело плотное. Послевкусие расходится: у одних оно долгое, перечное, с солодом, лакрицей и карамелью, у других короткое, обжигающее и обрывающееся, не оправдывающее обещаний аромата. Критикуют избыток карамели, молодость, спиртуозность и горечь; хвалят за баланс, доступность и цену. Опытные ревьюеры единодушны в диапазоне 82–84 и описывают его как лёгкий, фруктово-пряный, приятный, но нетребовательный вариант «на каждый день», отмечая скромную современную хересность и лёгкую ностальгию по более выразительной десятилетней версии. Остальные оценки разбросаны шире (71–86): верхняя часть подчёркивает сложность при отдыхе в бокале и раскрытие со временем, нижняя — короткое послевкусие и разрыв между многообещающим ароматом и вкусом. Общий консенсус — крепкий, классический, недорогой стартовый виски без выдающихся черт, при этом расхождение сосредоточено именно на длине и качестве послевкусия.

Serge says Colour: pale gold. Nose: malty and fresh at first nosing, with a little fudge and caramel as well as ‘a Mars bar’. Doesn’t change much after that but it’s all pleasant and kind of undemanding. Yet after fifteen minutes, more fresh oak starts to come through (vanilla and coconut) together with some orange, possibly from sherry here. Mouth: extremely malty and caramelly, all on tarte tatin, various cakes, toffee, butterscotch… In a way, it’s rather old-style. Good body. Finish: quite long, with more pepper on toasted brioche and always a very noticeable maltiness. Some liquorice and a lot of caramel in the aftertaste. Comments: I don’t think it’s very different from the older 12. That’s good news, I always enjoyed the 12. Ultra-classic. SGP:441 - 84 points.

Structured and more vanilla nose, towards white plum, coconut. It's round, greedy, on the sponge cake, the waffle with whipped cream. The entry in the mouth is smooth, on the lemon. Then the spices settle in, pepper, mustard, ginger. It's warm. The finish is very balanced, not very aggressive, but quite long, on muscat grapes, sprinkled with milk chocolate. It's evanescent at the end, on green apple, and some floral reflections. On this occasion, I had more time than for my previous tasting (note). At first, the caramel influence might be quite big (and that's not my favourite), but over time it calms down. A welcomed dram!

Honey, caramel, toffee, chocolate, spices, cherry liqueur, with sour red fruits somewhere in the background. The flavor is similar, with a touch of wood, tartness, and bitter citrus. The finish is short, warming, and searing.

very lovley stuff. sweet and good influence from the casks. it is a good start to get into Glengoyne, a light Whisky but still enough complexity here. Looking forward to tasting more of Glengoyne.
