Light golden color. Slightly oily texture.
Very hot and rather nasty
With a little water, it really opens up nicely!
Even with water, noticeable sharpness.
2cl Sample. Nosed without water at first. No taste without water. Does not smell and taste too young-ish and/or harsh. But where is THE Clynelish? No typical or associated notes to be found here... With water.. okay-ish to drink. Nothing too special though. no off notes... no sharp wood... which is a plus yeah.. but no... no thx
Giving it 88 points overall, but if I take the price in account it should get 89 in my opinion. Very good value for your money!!
It didn't really impress me. With this cask selection, very little of the distillery character remains. If you're familiar with Clynelish, the 100 Proof is, in my opinion, somewhat disappointing, and even the low price only helps to a limited extent. Fresh wood with a good dose of acidity. Not my thing at all. Why finish such a good spirit in a cask like that?
Fresh and fruity, spicy hot and sweet, chalky, not very complicated.with quite long and dry finish.
The independent bottler market is currently opening up to Clynelish with naming rights. Here, casks are being offered that don't necessarily reflect the typical Clynelish character. This is a bit of a shame if expectations are high. This bottling is one such example. Virgin oak casks don't do this Clynelish any favors either. Nevertheless, it's a nice whisky if you loosen your expectations a little.
One of the modern classics IMHO, not complex, but very good in it's simplicity. Still good with water and very drinkable. If you look at the price (less than €50), this is a banger.
A solid drink at a fair price. The Clynelish is recognizable thanks to its typical waxy character and plays well with the subtle sherry influences. A solid daily dram for 50 euros. Anyone expecting more will have to dig deeper into their pockets if they want the Clynelish name on it! ????
aroma: delicate, spicy, dark fruit, honeycomb Taste: smooth, dark fruit, honeycomb I like Clynelish, I'm glad I can smell the honeyiness here
quite closed up even with water, mineral, coastal, quite sweet fizzy peach ice tea, ikea furniture, white pepper, artificial scented candles, really carbonated appeal, finishes on a slight bitterness mouthfeel of waxy residues that are reminiscing Clynelish Not bad, but overall rather thin and definitely nothing I would reach out for if I wanted to have a blast of Clynelish
The nose is convincing, the alcohol overpowering, it requires playing with water but alas cannot hold a stick to something like the Thompson Bros. Clynelishs. Spend the extra doe.
A nice variety of Clynelish flavors, if only it weren't for the biting spiciness...
Tasting Clynelish Sv and Clynelish 14 yr. original bottling side-by-side. Same color, and the same fruity, waxy foundations are present. The nose is more delicate and deeper in the original bottling. The Sv leans more towards fruit, apricot marmalade, and a hint of pear from the new wood. On the palate, the Sv is harsher and rougher. The aromas from the nose are absent. Less complex. The finish returns to its fruit marmalade character. In short, it's always difficult to rate a whisky, and even more so to compare them. It's always a matter of personal taste. The original bottling seems more balanced and better finished to me. The Sv remains a very good and enjoyable choice, but if I had to choose, I'd go for the 14 yr.
Fresh wood paired with an overwhelming alcoholic harshness. The fact that it says Clynelish on the label doesn't help.
Great value and tastes nicely fresh and fruity with not too overpowering sherry casks. Virgin oak are not my favourite casks for Scotch but it does not take this down too much.
It still seems quite young to me. A bit sharp, with a distinct dose of fresh wood, presumably from the new wood hogshead. There are a few waxy and fruity notes, but overall it's not quite balanced yet.
Excellent for the price: waxy fruit (apple&pear), bright, a bit of drying oak at the back from the new wood. Feistier than the distillery bottling (youth, heat), but once you find the right amount of water, it's really delicious.
Butter fudge, caramel, Werther's Original Chocolatey, creamy
n Bright and cheerful red fruit Sweet honey water - not a thick sweetness, but watered-down honey water citrus flesh faint vanilla p Wax definitely exists Oily tannin honey taffy red apple Citrus f It is dry and has a rough aftertaste that lingers in the mouth. It really feels like the feeling after drinking tea
good whisky but the clynelish character is a bit muted in my opinion
